A Leap Outside My Comfort Zone: My Adventure with Ariat Workwear and the Unlikely Models

As a photographer deeply rooted in capturing the heartfelt connections between humans and their pets, I recently embarked on an intriguing journey that took me a step outside my familiar comfort zone, and straight into the robust world of workwear photography for Ariat. A brand renowned not just for its quality but also for its commitment to the essence of the outdoors and the hardworking individuals who thrive there. It was an invitation to adventure that I couldn't resist, and little did I know, it would turn into an assignment that enriched my portfolio and broadened my horizons in ways I hadn't imagined.

The day was spent alongside Paul, a farmer with a passion that mirrors the spirit of Ariat itself. Paul's farming and contracting business was the perfect backdrop for our shoot, offering a glimpse into the daily grind and beauty of hard work. From the powerful spray of the pressure washer to the formidable presence of the digger, each shot aimed to encapsulate the essence of resilience and the sheer will that drives the agricultural profession.

Perhaps the most exciting part of this adventure, and a delightful nod to my roots, was the inclusion of Paul’s majestic German Shepherds in a few of the images. These magnificent animals, known for their loyalty and intelligence, added a layer of warmth to the sturdy depiction of workwear, bridging my world of pet photography with this new, industrious landscape. Their presence reminded me that at the heart of every endeavor, passion and companionship are the driving forces.

Venturing into workwear photography, especially for a prolific brand like Ariat, was initially daunting. Yet, the experience turned out to be exhilarating and immensely fulfilling. I learned that stepping out of your comfort zone doesn't mean abandoning your passions but expanding them. It's about weaving those passions into new narratives and perspectives.

The culmination of this adventure was Ariat publishing several of the images in their marketing emails, a moment of pride and joy that I hold dear. This opportunity has not only expanded my portfolio but also deepened my appreciation for the stories that clothes can tell, especially when they're worn by those who embody the spirit of hard work, dedication, and a love for what they do.

As I reflect on this experience, I'm reminded of the power of photography to tell diverse stories, to connect with people and their passions, and to explore the beauty in the places we might not think to look. This adventure with Ariat was a testament to the art of capturing life, in all its forms, and the endless possibilities that await when we dare to explore beyond our comfort zones.

Embarking on this journey has opened new doors and has inspired me to continue exploring the intersection of work, passion, and the natural world through my lens. And to my fellow creatives pondering over stepping into uncharted territories—may my story inspire you to take that leap. On the other side might just be the adventure you never knew you needed.
